We’ve got another great episode of the YesCollege podcast for you! This week, our topic of discussion is Undergraduate Real Estate Programs. Joining Scott to explore this subject is Dr. Tom Hamilton, who is the Gerald Fogelson Distinguished Chair in Real Estate, and Academic Chair of the Chicago School of Real Estate at Roosevelt University.
Many people think that a Real Estate education is all about learning how to become an agent, but that’s not true! Listen in as Tom breaks down everything you need to know about how real estate degree programs function (specifically at the undergraduate level)… and why it’s an incredibly rewarding field to get into.
Roosevelt University has been a groundbreaking educational institution since its inception over 70 years ago, as one of the first to accept all students regardless of identity. Still living up to its motto, “dedicated to the enlightenment of the human spirit,” Roosevelt strives to create socially conscious citizens and leaders. Today the university offers 73 undergraduate majors, 38 minors, 46 graduate, and 3 doctoral programs that can be taken online and/or at one of their two campuses in Illinois. Students are encouraged to participate in the school’s clubs and organizations, in addition to their real-world and social justice initiaves.
Roosevelt University will be launching their new Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Real Estate degree program in the fall of 2018, at the Chicago campus. With an established Master’s in Real Estate program in place, Roosevelt’s Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate’s experienced faculty can help prepare undergraduate students to become real estate professionals through the use of industry-standard software and databases, allowing them to work in all aspects of the field. This program will also focus on awareness of social justice, engagement in civic life, and analyze the ongoing process of urban gentrification.
Each and every week we select a student organization to recognize from nominations we receive from our listeners. As a reminder, if you have any student organizations you think we should feature, don’t hesitate to let us know!
This week, we’re thrilled to recognize 88.1 KRLX-FM at Carleton College. This college radio station is independent and completely student-run since it started in 1948. They broadcast 24 hours a day during the academic year, with over 200 student participants each term.
In addition to giving students an opportunity to learn more about radio, and showcase their wide talents, KRLX also allows people to submit their own music and potentially have it played live on air. With today’s streaming, you might think radio is dead… but that’s just not true. You can visit them online and fire up a live stream of the radio station right now. While you’re at it, you can check out their schedule, take a look at their merchandise, and more.
Creating opportunities for students to join together, work towards common goals, and put together awesome shows is fantastic, and that’s why KRLX is our student organization of the week.
So from all of us here at YesCollege, huge congrats and keep up the great work!
